The objective with session designs at Cadence is to make a real impact on endurance and speed endurance – but how? The key consideration is how to deliver more oxygen from the atmosphere to the legs, and then separately, how to use the oxygen that’s been delivered (there’s some science involved here). The bigger this capacity, the faster the bike will go!
The leg muscles and the cardio pulmonary system (heart and lungs) can be considered as independently trainable systems, and it’s this physiology that guides design. Loading one area while not over-stressing another helps to maximise stimulus without building undue fatigue.
This focus on independently trainable systems has evolved into a unique approach to training. Sessions are challenging but fair, and results from personal bests to podiums come through every week. Our improved knowledge translates to better training, and we are doing things better than ever. There’s still a lot to learn which means there’s even more to come in the future…
